How it all began…..
The beginning of this saga dates back to long before I was born. My parents lived on a tea estate, surrounded with animals. In fact they were the oldest breeders of Labradors in the country-at a time when the breeding and showing of dogs was still a gentleman’s game!
I was born into this animal haven, knowing from the start that I was just one of the troupe, and came way down in the pecking order! If one of the dogs went off her food, she was fussed over and hand fed, whereas I was not allowed to leave the dining table without eating everything that I was told to! And then there were those dratted Chihuhuas….my parents adopted 4 or 5 of them from a person who was keeping them confined to a cage. Of course they loved the freedom that being on an estate brought them. Most specifically they adored my mother-to the extent that they would surround her, and not allow me anywhere near her! Nasty little creatures…. but my siblings nonetheless!

What a glorious way to grow up-surrounded by animals and birds. They make you a responsible, caring person, mainly because they give so much and expect so little!
Animal Stories is an attempt to introduce people to the joys of animal love. It is a community blog that will chronicle your stories. Being animal lovers, we know, that loving and caring for an animal is the best thing that you can do for yourself and the world at large, and this is what this blog will talk about at various levels.
No endeavour can be a success without the help of your friends. Animal Stories has come into being in large measure thanks to Shiuli Deb, who merges creativity and technical skills to manage the sleek presentation of the blog. Several wonderful artists and photographers are also major contributors to this blog, as you will see as you read along.
If you have a story that you would like to share, please do drop us a line at info@eibs.co.in. We would love to catch up with you, hear the story, and include it in this platform.
In this often heartless, cynical world, we hope that Animal Stories succeeds in putting a smile on your face 🙂
